The Lady Comets were hungry in last night’s competition against Sandwich coming from behind and winning in 3: 19-25, 25-22, 25-23. It was a real nail biter all the way to the finish but with the ace serves from Emily Wolf (7 in all) in the third game, the Comets pulled ahead. Sandwich didn’t give up and ended up tying the match, but defense was key to the win. Along with her aces, Wolf had 15 digs and a kill of her own. Madelyn Alton led offensively with 10 kills and added another 23 digs, 2 aces, and a block. Maddi Tiangco had 4 kills, 4 aces, and 9 digs of her own. Maggie Meyr added 5 kills, 2 blocks and a dig. Meghan Faletti stepped up her game as well and had 12 assists, 4 aces, and a kill at a crucial time in the game.
The Fresh/Soph team fell short of a win, losing 23-25, 21-25. Brodie Thompson had 4 aces and 9 digs. Setter Danielle Cherry had 6 assists, 11 digs, 2 aces, and a block.
The Freshman also lost a close one to Sandwich with both games ending at 20-25. Maddie Jo Bradley led the way with 6 kills, 2 aces and blocks each, and 3 digs. Maddi McPherson and Savannah Bruns added 4 more aces each. McPherson also had 4 kills while Bruns added 2 kills, 6 digs, and 13 assists.
