February Senior Spotlight

The Senior Spotlight winner for the month of February is Hannah Griffiths. Hannah is the daughter of Jeff and Kris Griffiths. During her high school career, Hannah was involved in Speech, Math Team, Fall Plays, Spring Musicals, NHS, World Language Club, Thespians, FCCLA, and Chorus. Additionally, she was a Homework Depot tutor, an RCHS Student of the Month, and an Illinois State Scholar.

Her future plans are to attend Iowa State University and major in Animal Ecology with a Pre-Veterinary focus.

Here are a few thoughts from Hannah’s teachers. Mrs. Bugg says that Hannah is “incredibly sweet, studious and responsible. She STILL holds a record for the most extra credit points in health class back from her freshmen year!” Mrs. Valiente also believes that Hannah is “caring, sweet, and determined. She takes the feelings of those around her into consideration before making a choice, and this is a trait I admire.” Mr. Brand says that Hannah is “a model student, actress, musician, and leader. She sets high expectations for herself and continues to raise the bar.” Ms. Brittingham says that Hannah is “a dedicated, hard-working individual. She is a leader, and she puts all of her passion into everything she does! She is a kind individual, and it is an honor to work with her on a daily basis.” Mr. Gleixner agrees that Hannah is “a great student who also carries with her a great attitude. She is one of those students who balances her studies with extracurricular activities and excels in both. She is a model student that the younger students can look up to.” Mrs. Olszta says that Hannah “is a very conscientious, hard-working student. She does her work on time, works well with other students, and always does so with a smile on her face.” Mrs. Rankin enjoys Hannah’s “positive attitude that is infectious in the classroom. She is not only a great student, but she goes out of her way to help and include other students as well. She works hard to do her best, but always does so with a smile and a kind heart.” Mr. Roth appreciates that when Hannah is “struggling to understand something, she makes extra time to come in for help and works hard at it until she figures it out. She maintains a positive attitude even when she is frustrated, which is an important characteristic of a mature learner, and it will carry over well into college and beyond into real life.” Mrs. Johnston says that Hannah is “a gentle young lady who is kind to everyone. She goes out of her way to help others. She is a leader in the classroom and hallways as she strives to be the best that she can be every day. She is also a very talented young actress as anyone who has seen her perform can attest.” Ms. Barber also agrees that Hannah is “kind, polite, hard-working, and grasps the ‘bigger picture’. She is just very positive and has a ‘light’ about her; she is a student I have enjoyed working with for the past 3 ½ years. She will not hesitate to go the extra mile to offer support to a peer or friend and often puts others before herself.”

As a final thought, Hannah’s advice to younger students is “Just try your best and you will go far.” She also believes that “The artist who aims at perfection in everything achieves it in nothing.” -Delacroix

On behalf of the teachers and staff at RCHS, we would like to congratulate Hannah Griffiths as our February winner of the “Senior Spotlight”.
