Lady Comets Begin Regionals with a Win

Tuesday night the Lady Comets opened up their semi-final round of Regionals against Clifton Central and won in two matches: 25-15, 25-19 with the serves from Junior Georgia Votta who served 13 points in a row with 4 of them being aces took control of the first set. Along with her great serves, Votta added 14 digs and 14 serve receive passes. To help defensively, Kassidy Barr added 12 digs and Madelyn Alton added 6. Offensively, Alton had 9 kills, Barr had 5 and senior Alyssa Tiangco nailed 6 more. Setters Mallory Alton and Val Guzman had a combined 23 assists.

The Lady Comets will play hosting team, Watseka at 6pm Thursday night. There will be a fan bus leaving to take all high school students to Watseka to support the volleyball team in the finals. A minimum of 40 students are needed for the ride. $4 admission into the event per IHSA. So catch a ride on the bus and wear all black!
