Lady Comets Volleyball Win Seneca Tournament

The stars were all aligned for the Lady Comets this past weekend at the Seneca Lady Irish Volleyball Tournament. The team defeated Seneca in the championship 25-22, 27-25 to take 1st place. Coach Van Duyne likes to give the girls an inspirational quote before they start each match. The quote before this game was:

Set your volleyball goals high and don’t stop till you get there.

Coach Van Duyne continued to tell the girls they have one more game to reach their goal.

Let’s finish this! And we did.

The Lady Comets took second in their pool defeating Serena 25-22, 25-12 and Woodland 25-14, 25-20. However, the Comets lost to Peotone 20-25, 17-25. The Comets were missing some girls that had a previous commitment for band, but the whole team stepped up and got the job done. Coach Van Duyne is very proud of each and every one of the ladies.

They deserve this so much.

Junior, Kassidy Barr led the team with 32 kills, 11 digs, 8 aces, and 8 blocks for the day. Sophomore, Madelyn Alton followed up with 24 kills, 25 digs, 11 aces and 5 blocks. Senior, Mollie Rabe rallied up 38 digs while seniors Alyssa Tiangco and Kailey O’Connor had a combined 42 block touches as middle blockers.

The Lady Comets will host the Lady Wildcats from Wilmington on Tuesday. The first game begins at 5:00pm.
