Girls Track Spectacular Performance Earns Second Place at Sectional

The girls track team competed in the Seneca IHSA Sectional on Friday. It may have been a cold, damp evening but the girls prevailed. Here is Coach Todd Lockwood’s commentary on the meet and our girls’ performances:

What a spectacular way to end the girls track season as a team before going to state – placing 2nd in the 16 team Seneca Sectional. Lots of splendid performances, surprises, and some heartbreak that only a Sectional can bring. Advancing to state is Emily Golaszewski with a career best time in the high hurdles, Morgan Zacharias in the pole vault, Alyssa Marrs in the pole vault, the 4X100 relay of Andrea Shroba, Skylar Windsor, Emily Golaszewski, and Morgan Zacharias with a personal season best time, and the 4X400 relay of Shroba, Maddie Christensen, Marrs, and Zacharias, also with a season’s best time and one of the most exciting finishes in a race all night. Best of luck at state next weekend. You have all earned that trip to the blue track at EIU!

The Girls State Track Meet begins in Charleston on Thursday, May 22nd and concludes on Saturday, May 24th. For more information visit the IHSA website.
